47. Jesus Is Rejected at Nazareth
54After Jesus had taught them in their synagogue, they were astonished and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all this?” 57And they took offense at him.23And he said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, 'Physician, heal yourself,' and say to me, 'What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here also in your own country.'”
24And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, a prophet is not without honor save in his own land.”
28When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. 29And they rose up and put him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him over the edge. 30But passing through the midst of them he went his way.
